On January 12, 2015, the PMR Customs Committee published official information on the customs duties for the import of cars and other vehicles in Transnistria for the year 2015.
This issue has attracted the attention of the general public, as on December 30, 2014, the President of Transnistria, Shevchuk E.V., rejected the extension of the law allowing customs clearance of cars aged 10 to 14 years, adopted by the Supreme Council on December 24. On January 12, a rally was held in support of the canceled law in front of the House of Soviets in Tiraspol. On January 28, the issue was reconsidered in the Supreme Council and the deputies overcame the President's veto and re-adopted amendments to the law on customs tariffs, allowing customs clearance of vehicles older than 10 years. Now all car enthusiasts are waiting for the President of PMR to sign this document. Until that moment, the registration of cars older than 10 years is prohibited.
On February 27, following a meeting between customs officials and interested individuals, customs clearance of vehicles aged 10 to 14 years imported before December 31, 2014, was allowed. On June 15, the validity of the decree was extended until September 2, 2015.
In June 2015, the Supreme Council in the first reading adopted a decree lifting the restriction on the return of imported vehicles to Transnistria, but without the President's signature, this decree has no effect.
As of June 2015, it can be stated that the following situation exists: customs clearance of vehicles imported in 2015, older than 10 years - PROHIBITED.
Customs duties for car imports in PMR in 2015:
ATTENTION! THE ACTUAL DATE OF MANUFACTURE IS CONSIDERED, NOT THE DATA IN THE TECHNICAL PASSPORT!
2013 - 2015 (up to 3 years) - 2.3% of the vehicle's value, but not less than 0.23$/cm3
2009 - 2012 (3 to 7 years) - 4.6% of the vehicle's value, but not less than 0.29$/cm3
2006 - 2008 (7 to 10 years) - 7% of the vehicle's value, but not less than 0.40$/cm3
For vehicles with a gasoline engine over 3000 cm3 and a diesel engine over 2500 cm3:
2013 - 2015 (up to 3 years) - 16% of the vehicle's value, but not less than 1.10$/cm3
