On September 27, 2017, the Supreme Council adopted amendments to the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic "On Amendments to the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic "On Excise Taxes", which will come into effect on January 1, 2018.
The main changes in the calculation of customs clearance costs that citizens should pay attention to:
- Now cars are subject to excise duty, not duty.
- The cost of customs clearance for petrol and diesel cars under 10 years old has not changed.
- Rates for petrol and diesel cars over 10 years old have been reduced from 9.2% or 0.63$/cm3 to 9.2% or 0.45$/cm3.
- The state has paid attention to hybrid and electric vehicles, adopting more favorable rates for cars over 7 years old compared to petrol and diesel versions.
- A coefficient has been introduced for vehicles over 5000 euros, which adds an additional 5% to the excise duty cost.
