Toyota Camry is one of the leaders in the business class in Ukraine, a budget alternative to Lexus cars. Regardless of the generation, the model is in high demand on the secondary market. Even more in demand are used parts for Camry.
The sixth generation, also known as the "forty" (from the XV40 body designation), was produced from 2006 to 2009, when the model underwent a facelift. The car was produced exclusively with a sedan body and only with gasoline power units.
Body Parts
In Ukraine, you can find both official Japanese assembly Camrys and a large number of "gray" Camrys intended for North America (USA assembly) and Middle Eastern countries. "American" models can be identified by the speedometer with large digital numbers in miles and the absence of turn signal repeaters on the front fenders (original fenders for Camry 40 - $100-150), while "Arab" models have specific equipment. Additionally, it is worth noting that the side windows on American and Arab versions have different attachments. The cost of door glass ranges from $70 to $80. Bare doors are priced at $300-350 in Odessa and Kharkiv, while an original used bumper will cost between $80 and $150 in Lviv and Lutsk. A hood will cost at least $180 with delivery to Kyiv or Chernihiv. Additionally, our auto dismantling service offers complete body quarters that simplify and reduce the cost of car repairs after an accident, and we can ship them to any city in Ukraine and Moldova.
Suspension
One of the main advantages of the Camry V40 has always been the reliability and comfort of its suspension. The construction is independent, with MacPherson struts. The suspension is reliable and durable, but over time, it requires some maintenance. You can buy complete struts for $100, control arms for up to $100. The lifespan of stabilizer bushings on Ukrainian roads is no more than 30-40 thousand km. Stabilizer bushings for 4-cylinder versions last twice as long. Used stabilizers are priced at $50-70, knuckles at $80-100, hubs at $40-50. All suspension parts can be easily delivered to buyers in Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, and Cherkasy.
Engine
The car is equipped with an inline 4-cylinder engine 2AZ-FE with a displacement of 2.4 liters. The engine is a modernized power unit from the previous generation, with an improved exhaust system, which increased the power to 167 hp while slightly reducing fuel consumption. It is worth noting that these engines have aluminum cylinder blocks and are generally not subject to major repairs. Toyota does not even offer cylinder-piston group parts with repair sizes: if the unit fails, it will have to be replaced entirely, and finding a used Camry 2.4 engine will not be difficult. The cost of a Toyota 2AZ 2.4 engine is around $1500-1600, which buyers from Kryvyi Rih and Donetsk will confirm is the most advantageous offer.
But the most important engine for enthusiasts is the new 2GR-FE engine - a 24-valve V6 engine with a displacement of 3456 cc and a power of 277 hp. This successful and reliable engine has been installed in Toyota and Lexus cars for almost 10 years. You can buy a 3.5 engine at a dismantling yard for around $2200, a deal you won't find in Rivne, Dnipro, or Luhansk.
Transmission
There are no special complaints about the 5-speed U250E automatic transmission, and problems mainly arise from improper use (failure to change oil on time, frequent aggressive starts, wheel spinning): the output shaft bearing of the transmission is the first to suffer. There is also a possibility of the seal of the torque converter leaking. Specialists recommend conducting a comprehensive diagnosis of the transmission at a specialized service center before purchasing. Jerks or impacts when changing modes and jerky gear changes are clear signs of significant wear on the transmission. Owners are always faced with a choice: repair the transmission, which can cost up to $2000 + finding a reliable specialist, or replace the U250E transmission assembly for $1500 in Kherson, Poltava, or Khmelnytskyi.
The more powerful version is equipped with a six-speed U660E automatic transmission with a sequential mode. The special feature of this transmission is the use of the Ravigneaux planetary gearset, replacing the simple planetary gearset. This was done to reduce size, weight, and friction. Unfortunately, this transmission is likely to fail by 200,000 kilometers with harsh use. The cost of a working U660E transmission assembly with low mileage at a dismantling yard is around $2000.
